The Rector of the Technical University of Leoben, Professor Peter Moser, paid a working visit to Georgia.
As part of the visit, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Georgian Technical University and the Technical University of Leoben (Montanuniversität Leoben).
The foundations of the partnership were laid in 2019, when a memorandum was signed between the mining company RMG (Rich Metals Group) and the Technical University of Leoben. This 2019 agreement paved the way for a trilateral collaboration involving RMG, the Georgian Technical University (GTU), and the Technical University of Leoben.
During the working meeting at the GTU, the parties reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation and sharing best practices in education, science, and research. Looking ahead, the company and the educational institutions plan to jointly implement research-driven, and development-oriented activities, such are seminars, conferences, and thematic events.
“It is important for our company to manage production processes based on modern standards, technologies, science, and research. We believe that the internationalization of science is the future of our country and of the mining and geological sectors. This cooperation will allow our employees to receive refreshers/training and professional development in Austria, at one of the leading mining universities. It is also significant, that graduates with international education from Austria will be attractive and competitive candidates for our company” – Giorgi Khetsuriani, Head of RMG’s Learning Programs.
“For my university and me myself, this is a meaningful day, as we sign a Memorandum of Understanding that opens new opportunities for cooperation in both – education and research areas. For all parties, for the Georgian Technical University and the Technical University of Leoben, share a common vision for the sustainable development of mineral resources, which we aim to pursue through joint educational programs, research efforts, and collaborative initiatives. I look forward to the results this cooperation will bring” – Professor Peter Moser, the Rector of the Technical University of Leoben.
