We serve Georgian Mining and we present the management team of one of the largest companies in Georgia and the South Caucasus – Rich Metals Group.

The mining sector is a key foundation for the economic sustainability in many countries of the world. Rich Metals Group’s (RMG) companies – RMG Gold, RMG Copper and RMG Auramine, as well as Caucasian Mining Group – have been involved in mining activities in the Bolnisi, Dmanisi and Tetritskaro regions of Georgia since 2012.

RMG produces polymetallic concentrate and gold dore alloys by surface and underground extraction and processing of copper, gold and polymetallic-containing ores.

Being the management team of one of the largest enterprises and exporters in Georgia and the South Caucasus region, holds the responsibility of building and upholding a role-model company for Georgian mining and other business sectors.

Since 2012, we have been building a solid foundation for a sustainable business model. Our objective, instead of achieving one-time short-term goals, is the long-term success of the company, which is only possible with sustainable business-doing.

We have successfully completed the first phase of the strategic cycle aimed at rearrangement and modernization of key assets (geological and technical services). It enabled us to prepare a jumpstart conditions for an ambitious business development process.

These achieved milestones are, of course, critical to the company, but our goal is to forge the solid ground for achieving the long-term sustainability and foster an atmosphere for continuous development and improvement. We strongly believe in our choice of development course, and aspire to fulfil even more ambitious plans for both expanding the business and solving the challenging legacy environmental issues.

Joni Shubitidze

Joni Shubitidze is RMG’s current General Director, appointed at the role in October 2022. He also serves as the Managing Director for all RMG’s companies, including the Caucasus Mining Group and RMG AURAMINE. 

Joni Shubitidze has a 40-years of experience in mineralogy and geology-related works both, within Georgia, and abroad. During different times, Joni Shubitidze worked in Georgian Geology, National Company of Geology and Mining, State Geology Department, EMED, Meverud & Astargan Gold Mines, etc.

Joni Shubitidze obtains the Geology Diploma from the Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University and holds a membership-position in the Geological Union of Georgia and the Geological Society. Joni Shubitidze is an author and co-author of around 50 scientific articles.

Sergei Berezikov

Sergei Berezikov holds the position of director of production since the end of 2022. His competence is to plan and manage the company’s production processes.

Sergei Berezikov has 20 years of experience in mining geological direction. His career began in 2003 at a Kazakhstan-based Mining and Metallurgical company Kazzinc. At different times he worked in leading mining companies in the position of Chief of District, Chief Engineer, and Chief of the quarry. Since 2018, he worked at one of the largest gold mining companies in Russia, Gold of Kamchatka, first as a chief of quarry and later as an executive director of the mining and processing plant Amethyst.

Sergei Berezikov holds a bachelor’s degree from East Kazakhstan Technical State University, majoring in mining engineering; as well as a master’s degree from Baltic State Technical University BOENMEX, in Business Administration.

Kakhaber Mtchedlishvili

Kakhaber Mtchedlishvili serves as RMG’s Corporate Director since 2017. He manages corporate, legal, administrative, public and international relations, healthcare, insurance, and social assistance services of the company.

Kakhaber Mtchedlishvili is also a member of the Supervisory Board of the companies included in Rich Metals Group: Mining Investments LTD, Caucasus Mining Group LTD, JSC Georgian Copper and Gold.

Kakhaber Mtchedlishvili has 12 years of experience working in leading legal and industrial companies in Georgia and Germany in different years. He has worked as an advocate at the law firm Solmecke Rechtsanwälte (Germany), a lawyer at Siemens AG (Germany), and visiting expert in Social Media Law at Deutsche Welle Akademie (Germany and Georgia).

Kakhaber Mtchedlishvili obtains the Bachelor’s Degree in International Business from the Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University and the Master’s Degree in Law from the Cologne University, Germany, as well as Diplomas of I and II Staatsexamen.

Lasha Mepharishvili

Lasha Mepharishvili serves as a Chief Financial Officer at RMG since 2014.  His responsibilities include planning and management of the company’s financial, accounting, tax, and information technology policies.

Lasha Mepharishvili has 25 years of experience working on managerial positions for international companies in Georgia and the United States of America. At different times, he has worked at AES Corporation, Enterprise Restructuring and Management Center CERMA, Express INC, Iberia Business Group, and more.

Lasha Mepharishvili holds a Master’s Degree in Economics, from Tbilisi State University and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration, from Duke University, USA.

Vadim Nemtsev

Mikheil Kvaratskhelia

Mikheil Kvaratskhelia manages the environmental protection affairs in RMG since 2012 and serves as an Environmental Director since 2017. His competence includes defining the company’s environmental policy, developing environmental programs, and sustainable environmental development.

Mikheil Kvaratskhelia has 30 years of experience working in environmental, geotechnical, and geological issues both in the public and private sectors. For different times, he has worked on environmental protection projects, construction of oil pipelines, and groundwater geo-hazard and geotechnical assessments.

Mikheil Kvaratskhelia holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering Hydro Geology from the Georgian Technical University. He has undergone a Master’s Course in land management at the Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden and a Master’s Course in project management, George Washington University, USA.

Vakhtang Abashmadze

Vakhtang Abashmadze serves as a Production Director of RMG Auramine, company within the Rich Metals Group, since 2017. Vakhtang Abashmadze has 21 years of experience working in various positions in the field of mining and geology. His career is related to Kazakhstan where he has worked for mining-geological companies since the 2000s.

Vakhtang Abashmadze holds a Bachelor’s Degree in mining equipment and technology, Aktobe University named after Bayishev.
