The 6th wave of students have completed RMG’s one-month practical internship program.
At the closure event, held in RMG’s main office in Kazreti district, students shared their experience and final presentations to the invited guests.
For the first time since the start of the initiative, the students from the Tbilisi State University (TSU) have participated in the project alongside students from the Georgian Technical University (GTU).
During the program period, students were allocated to various departments depending on their profession and interests, such like Geology, Drilling Technologies, Mineral Processing, Mining Surveying, Geotechnics, and Mining Technologies.
The future geologists, also for the first time had the chance to gain practice in the underground mine at Bektakari, RMG’s outstanding project developed by state-of-the-art technologies.
“Summer School” is RMG’s one-month paid internship program, offering students the opportunity to gain practical experience at the company’s enterprise in Kazreti district during their summer holidays.
“We’ve been running this project for six years now. This year, 24 students participated in the project, out of which 18 were from GTU’s Faculty of Mining and Geology, and 6 joined from the TSU’s Faculty of Exact and Natural Sciences. The participants were involved in the company’s daily operations, which is crucial for their professional development and their future career decisions” – Giorgi Chkheidze, Deputy Executive Director on HR Management
“This year, a memorandum was signed between RMG and TSU, opening the opportunity to the students of Tbilisi State University to join the project for the first time. “Theory is important in this industry, but practical knowledge is vital for career growth and I think this project will support me in this regard. In the second part of the event, students were handed memorable gifts and all participants were awarded certificates for their interest and involvement in the project.
During the 6 years of the initiative, 250+ students were involved in the Summer School project, out of which 70% is employed, and around 30 students have joined the Rich Metals Group within different years.
Within the company’s corporate responsibility, RMG follows the UN Sustainable Development Goals and prioritizes several of them, including the goal of quality education accessibility. In this regard, the company implements various educational initiatives, among which are the student programs implemented within the partnership with Georgia’s leading universities.
