A ceremony to recognize RMG’s 2026 Scholarship holders was held at the company’s main office in Kazreti.
This year, approximately 150 students from the Georgian Technical University and Tbilisi State University applied for the scholarship program. Following a competitive selection process that included interviews, evaluation of academic records, and review of motivation letters, a special commission selected 25 outstanding students to receive the scholarship.
Joni Shubitidze, General Director of RMG, presented the scholars with commemorative certificates. Congratulating the students on their achievement, he highlighted the significance of company’s scholarship program and spoke about the opportunities RMG offers young people through its various initiatives.
As part of the event, the students participated in an industrial tour of the enterprise, gaining firsthand insight into RMG’s production processes. They visited the historic Madneuli quarry and the modernized copper enrichment plant.
The scholarship competition was open to bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral students from the Georgian Technical University’s (GTU) Faculties of Mining and Geology, Energy, Chemical Technologies and Metallurgy, and Informatics and Management Systems, as well as students from the Faculty of Exact and Natural Sciences at Tbilisi State University (TSU). The program aims to identify talented future engineers, attract them into the field and offer career development opportunities in Georgia’s mining sector.
RMG launched its scholarship program for students of the GTU in 2018. Since 2025, the initiative has also included students from the Faculty of Exact and Natural Sciences at TSU. The 25 selected scholarship recipients will receive monthly scholarship from RMG for a year.
Since 2022, all of RMG’s large corporate responsibility initiatives have been aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The scholarship program contributes to SDG #4 for Quality Education, reflecting the company’s commitment to support education with implementing several student programs, with Scholars program being one of them.
