The Geology Institute Celebrates its 100th Anniversary

At Tbilisi State University (TSU) a jubilee event and international scientific conference dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Aleksandre Janelidze Institute of Geology were held.

Joni Shubitidze, RMG’s General Director, congratulated the Institute of Geology on its centennial anniversary. He spoke about the institute’s century-long history and highlighted its continued invaluable contribution to the advancement of science.

“Aleksandre Janelidze and his colleagues not only laid the foundation for the development of geological sciences in Georgia, but also created a strong scientific school whose legacy continues to inspire future generations. I am pleased that today the traditions of this school are being continued and advanced by the highly qualified team of the Institute of Geology. This gives us, as representatives of the private sector, additional motivation to continue close cooperation with the Institute, both in scientific research and within the framework of other collaborative projects,” said Joni Shubitidze, General Director of RMG.

With the support of TSU, as part of the centennial celebration of the Institute of Geology, a scientific conference titled “Achievements and Challenges in Geology” was also held. The event aimed to present the achievements of Georgian scientists and to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and experience between Georgian and international researchers.

The celebration concluded with a ceremonial presentation of honorary medals of the Aleksandre Janelidze Institute of Geology.
