RMG Celebrates the 50th Anniversary of Mining Production and Awards Outstanding Miners

On December 17, RMG celebrated Miners’ Day together with its employees and invited guests at the National Youth Palace. This year, alongside the awarding of outstanding miners of 2024 and 2025, the company marked the 50th anniversary of its mining production.

The jubilee event opened with a presentation of the 50-year history of the production facility and recollections shared by long-serving employees. The outstanding miners of 2024–2025 were awarded by RMG’s General Director, Joni Shubitidze.

He summarized the year 2025 and, together with the guests, reviewed the past half century that the Kazreti production has gone through to date:

“Today we are celebrating a special date — the 50th anniversary of the commissioning of the mining and processing plant at our production site. The past half century is a vivid example of hard work, resilience, professionalism, and dedication that has brought this production to where it is today. These 50 years are not merely a summary of the past — they are a strong foundation for the successful future of our company, which is, of course, built by the people employed here.
I am pleased that six years ago at RMG we laid the foundation for honoring these people by establishing the celebration of the professional holiday — Miners’ Day,” said Joni Shubitidze.

At the company’s initiative, a “Distinguished Miner Award” was established for the first time this year to recognize an exceptional contribution to the development of the mining industry. The award was presented to Academician Levan Japaridze.

In connection with the 50th anniversary of production, RMG’s Corporate Director, Kakhaber Mchedlishvili, introduced two company-initiated projects to guests and employees. The first project is related to reviving the long-forgotten tradition of wearing a miner’s costume. The new ceremonial miner’s costume was designed by Anuka Keburia, and guests were able to view it in the White Hall during the event. The second large-scale project involves the launch of work on a monument dedicated to the mining profession by sculptor Valeri Jikia. He shared the concept and sketch of the monument with miners and event guests through a holographic presentation.

RMG established Miners’ Professional Day in 2019, and it is celebrated every year on December 17. Over the past six years, the company has awarded 43 distinguished employees.
